The family decided to take a quick break from the ho hum of everyday life, so we escaped to St. George for the weekend of April 1st through the 3rd. It also happened to be the weekend of General Conference so my mom and dad could come too. I took Friday off of work, we loaded up Gran's car, and we headed down to our favorite Ramada Hotel. Pepper Potts even made the journey with us. Above is a replica of what the car felt like. I would definitely call this the Fun V, wouldn't you? Everyone there included me, my hubby, my mom, dad, brother, and sister, my aunt, uncle, and their two kids, and my other uncle. You know it is going to be a party when all of us get together.
On Friday we took a quick trip to TJ Maxx for a swim suit for Spen then spent time at the pool and eating at Benja. We walked the shops, had frozen custard, and just plain vacationed it up in any way we could. The majority of the family got sun burned, my mom on her neck and chest, my brother on his shoulders, but they took it smiling because the pain was so worth it.
This is my dad chillin' with his buddy Brigham young in front of the Zions Bank. I love all the touristy things we can do in St. George even though we are from Utah. We whip out the camera at a moments notice and it feels oh so good.
One of my most favorite things about staying at a hotel is the continental breakfast. Bagels, toast, cereal, milk, bananas, apples, yogurt, oatmeal galore! That is my kind of breakfast. I swear I had one of everything every morning. No better way to start the day off right. Saturday my dad took pepper for a run, we hit up a small flea market where the Mermaid picture was taken, and cleared the pool with a gnarly game of water polo. We also shopped the outlets, made some more purchases at TJ Maxx, and met the boys after priesthood session for some excellent Cafe Rio. Five Guys was thrown in there somewhere too I believe. Delicious.
The weather was excellent. Everyday we were warmed by glorious sunshine and cooled by beautiful evenings. We walked alot, which is just one more thing to love about staying at the Ramada. You couldn't have asked for better.
Sunday was spent lazily lounging by the pool, listening to conference (thank you modern technology), a fun game of made up baseball at the park with a tennis ball and a stick, and picnic by the pool before heading home. Then came a long, sad drive back to four inches of snow. We were extremely tempted to just stay there and hide away from the hideous weather back home, but we resisted.
On the trip home Linc snuggled with my puppy. It kinda looks like he is strangling her, but really she is just asleep. She traveled so well and we were so glad to have taken her along. It was a great trip and tradition, as always. I can't wait to go back next year. This really is a good start for a near future of warmer weather this year. Now I can at least start looking forward to yard work and summer sun, that is, if the weather ever decides to cooperate.
