A Park of Our Own

Today was take a picnic to the park day in the Schade family. We packed up Pepper, Blake, and some yummy sandwiches and headed up the canyon not knowing where we would stop. It was just too nice of a day and because Spen had the day off we decided the timing could not be more perfect. Up the canyon we drove and when we hit South Fork we pulled over. This is our spot really. We have stopped at South Fork for BBQs and picnics quite often. There were several cars lined along the parking lot, but the place wasn't crowded so we unloaded the stroller, quilt, and picnic basket. We found a spot by the water that was level and in the shade of a copse of trees. We ate our sandwiches and potato salad while Blake had some carrots that turned his binky orange.

At one point we looked around and realized the large group at the pavilion was leaving. In fact, everyone was leaving. We waited just to make sure, and there it was, the whole park to ourselves. Hip hooray! We let Pepper off the leash and had about 20 minutes of free for all. She got in the water, chased the Frisbee, and ran down a few tennis balls. She was in picnicking bliss. Then a few cars made an appearance so, just to be safe, we leashed the mutt and went on a little walk along some of the dirt paths around the park. K.B. loved it so much he even took a nap. It was summertime bliss.
